Books & Family Reading
This category covers children’s books, shared-reading materials and resources written for parents or caregivers. Describe the intended reader, the subject and the way the work is meant to be used.
Books are reviewed through authorized digital materials or online access. You do not need to send a printed copy.

What belongs in this category
Examples include picture books, early-reader titles, family reading activities and parenting resources. A single title or clearly identified series edition may be submitted if its content can be reviewed.
A resource that offers specialist medical guidance is not treated as ordinary parenting information simply because its audience includes parents. Identify the subject accurately and ask about scope where needed.
Identify the edition and your authority
Provide the title, author or contributors, publisher, edition and publication format. Include an ISBN or other identifying reference if one is assigned. Explain which language and format are covered.
The applicant must have authority to submit the materials and arrange review access. Recognition applies to the identified work and edition; a revised edition or substantially different content is not automatically included.
Content and documents to prepare
Prepare:
- The complete work in an authorized digital format or through an access link that remains available during review.
- A description of the intended readers and the work’s purpose.
- The title page, edition information, cover and relevant contributor details.
- A table of contents, where one is used.
- Information about accompanying activities, audio or digital content.
- Sources supporting important factual or educational claims.
- Any instructions or limitations needed to understand how the resource is used.
A sample chapter can help explain the application, but it does not replace access to the complete content being considered. Provide only materials you are entitled to share.
How the work is reviewed
The complete content is considered in relation to its intended readers and stated purpose. For a parent resource, factual claims and the distinction between general information and specialist advice matter. An activity book should explain the task, age guidance and adult participation, with supporting information where needed.
The review does not include a reader survey or establish that a title produces a particular developmental outcome.
Find a published record
A record identifies the title, edition, author or publisher and award year. Check those details when comparing a certificate or award mark with a book.
Submit the work online
There is no entry fee. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and review normally takes about two months after complete materials and the necessary access are confirmed.
