Identify the exact product
Before comparing products, match the award record with the item you are considering.
| Look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Product name and brand | Similar names may be used for different products. |
| Model, edition or version | Recognition applies to the version reviewed. |
| Award year | This identifies the decision year, rather than the year you see an advertisement. |
| Intended users and use | Age, size, installation or other limits may affect whether the product suits your situation. |
| Public reference | This connects the product statement with the official NPF record. |
Do not assume that a mark shown beside a brand logo covers every product sold by that brand.
Read the scope
The record describes what the recognition covers and the intended users identified in the submitted materials. Read that description alongside the manufacturer's current instructions and warnings.
An award does not mean a product is appropriate for every child, every setting or every use. A statement about one feature does not establish another feature; for example, an award for a feeding utensil does not establish the nutritional quality of the food used with it.

Verify a reference
Enter the reference in the verifier or follow the certificate's QR code to the official NPF record. Compare the product identity and read the status. An updated record may contain a correction; a replaced record links to the applicable replacement; withdrawn recognition is no longer active.
Use product information
Read the current instructions supplied with your exact product. Check the manufacturer's information when a product has changed or you need help with installation, maintenance or use.
For relevant U.S. product recall information, consult the Consumer Product Safety Commission's recalls and safety warnings. For products within FDA's remit, consult FDA recalls, market withdrawals and safety alerts. A registry record is not a substitute for those current official notices.

Questions or concerns
If a product's award statement does not match its record, send the reference, the page or packaging where you saw it and the specific difference. If you know of a recall or material product change, include a verifiable official link.
You do not need to provide a child's name, photograph, diagnosis or other private family information to report a record concern.
