Year-round online submission
Applications are accepted throughout the year. Submit the application and evidence online. Samples are not required and should not be shipped.
There is no application or review fee. Provide accurate, current information and disclose material issues relevant to the product's assessment. Evidence should be traceable to the submitted model and to the particular claim it supports.
Completeness and review time
An initial receipt confirms submission. The estimated review period begins when the required materials are confirmed complete and accepted for review. A complete application normally takes about two calendar months to review.
If clarification or additional evidence is necessary, the applicant is told what to provide. Time waiting for that information may affect the expected date; a revised estimate is communicated where needed. The estimate is not a guaranteed deadline and does not result in automatic recognition when time has elapsed.
The award year is the year of the authorized decision. If review crosses a calendar year, the certificate, mark and record use the decision year.
Assessment and decisions
The assessment considers the published criteria and the evidence relevant to the product. Material inconsistencies, unresolved eligibility or product-identity issues and evidence that does not support a relevant claim may prevent recognition.
Review is based on documents and product information, without samples, family trials or laboratory testing conducted by NPF. Submission does not guarantee an award. The authorized applicant contact receives the outcome and relevant next steps.
Free digital recognition
A recognized product receives a free digital award certificate, permission to use the approved digital award mark for the recorded product, and free inclusion in the NPF Healthy Products Registry. Access to those benefits does not require a payment, physical order, donation or marketing subscription.
There is no paid recipient package or digital renewal fee. Mark use remains subject to product scope, current status and the published guidelines.
Publication and confidentiality
The applicant must authorize publication of the approved product details needed for a public record. These include product identity, image where approved, category, intended users, scope, year, reference and status.
Applicant contact details, private evidence, assessment notes and correspondence are not published as part of the award record. Providing evidence allows its use for the assessment; it does not authorize unrestricted public reproduction of the entire application.
Product scope and updates
Recognition applies to the specific product and version recorded. It does not automatically extend to a brand's other products or to a material revision. Recipients must report changes that affect design, materials, functionality, intended use, warnings or claims.
Factual corrections are checked before publication. A changed product may require a new free application. A corrected, replaced or withdrawn record identifies the relevant date and published explanation. Use the approved artwork, recorded award year and current certificate issue.
Decision review and withdrawal
An authorized applicant may request review of a factual or procedural error within 30 calendar days of the decision notice. Identify the exact point in dispute and supporting evidence. This process is free; it does not guarantee recognition or substitute a new product for the one assessed.
An applicant may also request withdrawal of an application through private application access. A request to end or correct recognized status is handled with the record and any affected award use; necessary historical product and status information may remain publicly identifiable.
Optional physical items
Trophies, printed certificates and physical labels are optional purchases for recognized products. Their requests, quotes, proofs and fulfillment are separate from review.
Ordering, declining, canceling, not paying for or receiving a refund for physical items does not affect the award decision, free certificate, free digital mark permission or free registry record.
Rule version and help
Effective date: October 14, 2026. The service records the rule version applicable when an application is submitted. Relevant changes affecting an active application are communicated to its authorized contact; a revised rule is not silently substituted for the version recorded with that application.
For preparation or a scope question, use application support before submitting. For a private application update, use application access.
